My name is Eric Niesen and I am a follower of Christ who plays professional baseball. I played at Wake Forest University, and was drafted in the 3rd round by the New York Mets in 2007. In 2009, I led the Minor League System in strikeouts, and in 2010 was invited to Major League Spring Training. I’ve previously signed a Minor League contract with the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox. I’ve experienced the game of baseball from all facets, including: Short Season A, High-A, AA, AAA, Independent League (Atlantic League- Long Island Ducks), Fall League, and Winter League (Puerto Rico: Roberto Clemente League- Santurce). I’ve experienced all levels but one: The Big Leagues. Despite these experiences–and all the highs and lows– my relationship with Jesus Christ is where my identity rests. Him finding me was the greatest win, and this blog is about that journey and how He reveals himself to us in life, especially to me through baseball.

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.”
1 Timothy 1:15-16
